UPDATE
Settlement pack 1 & 2, and the island pack are no longer required!
TL;DR:
- Updated mod for H&B Update.
- A bunch of new maps.
- All bugs in all the Island maps have been fixed.
- About 30/40% of the maps in the mod have been revised/reworked to fix bugs/AI issues.
- New section in credits where you can see what maps are custom, and who did them. Keep in mind that, despite fixing issues/reworking broken maps, members of the GCCM team are not included in the credits of a map if they didn't actively helped when making them originally.
- New little "Showcase" section for maps in credits, where you can find some details about each map. This section is done under petition of the mapmaker, so currently only one "sample" map is there.
New logo
Hello everyone! The workshop finally let me update the mod, so it's now up-to-date again! This is just a minor compatibility update, but we are now also using our awesome new logo, designed by one of our own map makers: GermanPartisan. Grand Campaign Custom Maps: Mortal Empires
We're back! GCCM brings custom maps to the campaign, with the goal of increasing visual and gameplay variety. The project was started during the first game ( GCCM1 ), and we will continue in TWW2 and TWW3.
What is new?
GCCM now supports 'conquer everywhere', because CA kind of forced us to. Not all settlements will have race-specific variants for every race. Races that don't have a race-specific variant of a settlement will get the 'main' custom map for that settlement.
We are reviewing and updating all TWW1 GCCM maps before we include them in the Mortal Empires campaign, because now that we are starting fresh, we will have stricter quality control.
You can find an overview of maps here. This also shows which maps are currently being worked on, and which ones are being changed at the moment.
The future
The long term goal is a custom map for every settlement, as well as custom land battle maps for different regions to increase variety there as well.
We have also managed to add unique maps for when you sally out of a settlement (attack the besieging force), and when for when you use a different army to attack an army that is besieging your settlement (settlement relief). We will start adding these maps once we're done reviewing and updating the old maps.
Quality over quantity
We have created a series of map making guidelines based on our experience making maps and adding them to the campaign in TWW1, which you can view here. These are guidelines, they are not set in stone. We encourage all map makers to join the map makers discord channel, which is a place for all map makers (not just GCCM!) to share WIP, discuss ideas and ask for feedback.
In addition to that, we now have a more organized bug tracker, which you can find here. You don't need an account to submit an issue. Please include as much info as you can, and screenshots are generally very useful as well.
Troubleshooting
If you're having issues with the mod please, first try the following:
- Make sure you're subscribed to the main mod, settlement pack 01 & 02 & the asset pack
- Resubscribe if you haven't tried that yet
Then answer these questions:
- Which settlement was it?
- Did this happen on Mortal Empires or Vortex Campaign?
- Which race was defending & which race was attacking?
- Were you defending or attacking?
- Did either side have reinforcements?
- Was it a walled or unwalled settlement battle?
- When did it crash, exactly?
- Did it show a battle preview before crashing?

GCCM is fundamentally a colabarative project, where we incorporate the maps of many different creators into the campaign. The discord channel has been a great way for all of us to share our individual WIP maps and get feedback, and we want to use the GCCM project to help grow TWW's map making community. This is part of the reason that we started the GCCM Patreon, which we want to use to create competitions in order to incentivise and reward map makers.

A note on the maps in this mod
The maps were not all created by the developers of this mod. The contributor list in the right panel shows the people contributing to this mod. We have integrated the maps of these wonderful people into the mod to lower the mods needed to be enabled during this mod. What this also means is that the individual map makers won't really notice when you enjoy their map, so if you really enjoy a map be sure to upvote their map and let them know you enjoyed it, it helps to keep people motivated when they get some love! Note that you can still download the maps individually without it conflicting with this mod!
