Manic's Expanded Factions (Pack 1) для Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia
All parts of the Manic's Expanded Factions mod are standalone packs.
Do NOT run any of them together!
Welcome to Manic's Expanded Factions!
This mod, split into three seperate packs, enables you to play as any (non-emergent) faction in Thrones of Britannia both in the campaign and in custom battles.
Factions have fully-functioning victory conditions and family trees. Most (aside from Seisilwig, Athfochla and Fortriu) appear to run without any issue. Currently, aside from the English and Welsh, factions don't have access to mechanics. The only other exception to this is the Viking Sea Kings' immunity to seasickness.
Also, a big thank you to Owlcoholic for his unintentional tutorial video on YouTube. Without it, this mod would certainly not exist.

Factions
English Kingdoms
- Northloede (renamed to more historical Northanhymbre and playable Northymbre renamed to Northymbra) - The English remnant of the ancient Kingdom of Northumbria. Much like the Mercians to their south, they are an old and historically powerful Angle kingdom that have taken quite a beating from the Danes. Starts sandwiched between Northymbre and Strat Clut.
- Cent - Aside from the short-lived Kingdom of Wihtwara on the Isle of Wight, Kent is unique in that it is the only English kingdom that is neither Angle nor Saxon but is instead of primarily Jutish origin. They start as vassals of West Seaxe.
- Suth Seaxe - Similar in size to Cent. They start on the far south coast of England, bordering West Seaxe to the west and north, Cent to the east and the English Channel to the south. Starts as a vassal of West Seaxe.

Viking Sea Kings
- Hlymrekr - The more isolated of the Norse colonies in Ireland. Starts with fellow Norse exclave Myrrborg as a vassal to the far south, it is surrounded on all sides by Caisil and its numerous subjects.
- Orkneyar - Similar to Sudreyar but with an arguably better starting position and an unarguably sexier faction colour and symbol. Unfortunately, the natives don't agree and you start with obscene unrest in your capital.
- Veisafjordr - Similar to Dyflin. Starts on the far south-eastern coast of Ireland, bordering the fellow Norse outpost of Vedrafjordr.

Great Viking Army
- Hylrborg - Viking Lindesege (Lindsey/Lincolnshire). The largest of the unplayable Dane factions. Starts as a vassal of Northymbre.
- Djurby - Viking Derby and one of the 'Five Boroughs' of the Danelaw. A very small, landlocked faction that borders the powerful Mercian kingdom.
- Ledeborg - Viking Leicester. Similar to Djurby. A small and landlocked faction that is sandwiched between Mercia and the Northymbre vassal of Hylrborg. Expansion options are limited.

Welsh Kingdoms
- Powis - Located in central Wales, bordering Mercia and Gwynedd. One of the three powerful kingdoms (alongside Gywnedd and Deheubarth) of pre-Norman Wales. Landlocked and surrounded on all sides by potential enemies.
- Seisilwig - Located in south-west Wales. Early annexation of Dewet on its southern border gives Seisilwig a great position to build up its powerbase as it only has to worry about its single (albeit rather large) front to the east. Historically, it merged with Dewet to create the Kingdom of Deheubarth. KNOWN ISSUE: Opening this faction's overview screen (family tree/governors etc.) will crash your game!
- Cerneu - A Brythonic vassal state of West Seaxe in Cornwall. Surrounded entirely by either allies or open sea, Cerneu is a great faction for people who want to learn the ropes without ever having to worry too much about aggressive neighbours.

Gaelic Kingdoms
- Aileach - A large kingdom in the far north of Ireland. They start with Airgialla as a vassal on their southern border, providing some early protection from its neighbours.
- Laigin - The Kingdom of Leinster. Sandwiched between the Norse settlements of Dyflin to the north as well as Veisafjordr and Vedrafjordr to the south. Expect an early war with an abundance of aggressive neighbours.
- Caisil - Arguably the most powerful faction in Ireland at the start of the game. Virtually all of the traditional lands of the Kingdom of Munster, save for Hlymrekr and its vassal of Myrrborg, start as Caisil's vassals.[/list]
FAQ
Not really an FAQ, I lack people to ask these questions frequently, but here are some answers to questions I expect to get...
Why are there so many packs? Why not just make one big mod?
I know. It's basic common sense, right? Unfortunately, the game simply crashes if there are more than 25 playable factions at once, which means I am forced to create multiple packs in order to unlock all of them. I would have liked to have made it just one big mega-mod but, alas, this game refuses to let me.
Irish/Norse/Danish factions have extremely low Legitimacy/Tribute/Here King!
Don't worry! These factions do not have access to culture mechanics and those dangerous-looking numbers/bars displayed in the UI are just bugged out and mean nothing. It will have no affect on you army morale, public order or general loyalty and your nation will not implode the moment you click 'End Turn'.
Will factions other than those in the English and Welsh culture group ever be able to use mechanics?
Unlocking faction mechanics for the English and Welsh proved to be relatively straightforward but other culture groups are proving to be much more difficult. Unfortunately, the event-based mechanics for the Danes and Sea Vikings factions are far too complex for me and I probably won't ever get those working.
Where's East Seaxe? I want to play as the true Saxons! Will you ever unlock emergents?
This is still beyond my modding capabilities but it may be possible one day. Until then, unfortunately, Suth Seaxe will have to do.
Techs are bugged, I can't upgrade my units!
This is caused by running other mods that modify/add units, such as Radious. Please make sure you have disabled all other mods before using this.
It's not working!
Please provide detailed information on your problem. Before posting, please make sure to turn off any other sub-mods to see if this resolves the issue as many are not compatible and will likely cause problems. Also, to ensure it is not simply the result of a botched installation (it happens) please try re-subscribing. If you are experiencing problems with Athfochla, Fortriu and Seisilwig, I am already aware of the issues with these factions and currently cannot do anything to resolve them.
