Legions of Rome
=============
This is a modification focusing on military units for Rome players. This version is for the WRE with totally new skins, some modified stats, and new units to be added.
Legions of Rome: Native Rebels: rebellions of native barbarian troops instead of elite roman armies
Legions of Rome: Specialised Garrisons: Three new specialised garrison/city defence units (Custodes Urbanae, Cohortes Urbanae, Legio Castrorum). Field units no longer generated as garrison.
(1) Total reskin of WRE units, officers and standard bearers, with customized unit cards
(2) Adjusted melee infantry stats.
Roman infantry have heavy armour, good morale, good defence but subpar melee attack/charge compared to Barbarians.
(3) Historical formations with improved shield wall - only available for Romans (and a few elite Germanic/Nordic).
All legionary units have following formations: defensive testudo to weather enemy missile fire. Offensive testudo to advance to siege walls under missile fire. Use your legions in the powerful classical roman shield wall as your primary battle formation.
(4) Three clear main infantry classes - no more being forced to upgrade heavy troops to light troops.
i) Cohors -> Legio -> Legio Comitatenses are your main infantry. Heavily armoured, good at defence and holding the line in shield wall. (representng the Comitatenses historically)
ii) Limitanei -> Comitatenses Spears -> Auxilia Palatina -> Palatina Spears (replacing Cornuti Seniores) are your spearmen. Good at defending chokepoints, good vs cavalry, poorer damage potential (earlier units representing Limitanei historically).
iii) Palatina -> Protectores -> Armigeri -> Elite Palatina are your elite heavy shock legionaries. They are very heavily armoured with high charge. Quite expensive. (representing the Palatina / imperial escort army historically)
(5) Changed Herculiani Seniores into the light role.
Glass cannon infantry with very high charge and high melee. Good for flanking.
(6) Added javelins and improved melee ability for scout units.
Exploratores and Praeventores are now armed with two javelins, and make effective general killers if you can get their positioning right.
(6) Changed Scholarae Gentiles to heavy shock cavalry type unit.
Stats changed to keep consistency with upgrade path of Contarii -> Catafractarii -> Gentiles. Improved charge, and able to stay in melee for longer.
This mod is a personal mod that I decided to release. I work on it as I play, and when I have time.

- Reskin WRE cavalry and missile units - DONE 24/7/17
- Extend all features to ERE (This may take a long while as I have yet to play ERE in campaign!) - will probably be a new mod entirely.
I've amassed thousands of hours on TW since Shogun. I've modded lots for personal use, but this is the first time I've published one, mainly because I only recently picked up Attila and the WRE campaign has BLOWN ME AWAY.
The units are probably a bit OP - suggestions are seriously welcome as I suck at balancing!
Expect bugs. Any other suggestions / feedback / ideas also seriously welcomed.

UPDATE 5.8.17: Modified spear units skins to fit the legionary theme, and changed name of Cornuti Seniores to Palatina spears for logical progression to elite spear unit that can be used in your late game armies. Slight debuff to stealth units as I found them a bit OP.[I]
[I]UPDATE 1.8.17: Increased Roman unit missile defence with new shield types. New com spears shield texture.
UPDATE 27.7.17: (1) Uploaded Specialised Garrisons submod. (2) Simple skins (leather armour) for balistarii and sagitarii, and added leather armor to stats. (3) New shield for Magister Militum - red with wreath - see screenshot. Custom unit icons for remaining skinned units. (4) Released skin only version.
UPDATE 25.7.17: Combined with formation stats and roman officers mod. Cavalry officer skins added. Catafractii colours made darker.
UPDATE 24.7.17: All cavalry re-skinned. Changed Scholarae Gentiles to heavy shock unit (as per upgrade path) and added custom unit card.
UPDATE 21.7.17: Added Scout Equites skin. Added custom unit cards to all reskinned units.
