Functional Wheels and Rotors! для Space Engineers
Wheels and rotors how they should be.
This mod rebalances the entire series of non-suspended wheels and regular rotors to make them a functional part of the game and to allow their use in super-heavy vehicles. If you're not sure why anybody would want to use them, check out the video above.
While the vanilla game's suspension blocks work for most vehicles, they frequently fail miserably due to limited ground clearance and a general lack of flexibility. With regular non-suspended wheels on the other hand, you won't get anywhere due to their fragility. They are just way too weak to be used for anything useful. The community has been fairly vocal about this flaw, but the devs never came around to fix them. That's why I made this.
The mod won't add any new parts, but instead add a line of text in the config file to the 1x1, 3x3 and 5x5 wheel, as well as to regular rotors (all 4 blocks in small and large grid versions).
The mod makes these parts very tough, but intentionally not indesructible. You won't need a mod if you simply want indestructible blocks btw. There's a world setting for that.
Tldr: It is still possible to break them through sheer force after the tweak, it's way harder though. For ground vehicles I'd still recommend a suspension. With very large vehicles, these kinds of suspensions may outperform regular ones quite drastically (example below).

Usefull mods and scripts that go rly well with this:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1212213441 (more speed and power)
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1471585938 (script for automatic torque and velocity adjustments on your suspesnion; custom written scripts are often better though)
If you're short on time or encounter issues while building this stuff, don't worry. I uploaded the entire suspension system, piece by piece, as blueprints to the workshop. You will have to readjust the torque and angles though.
Happy engineering!

Chatter:
I made this, because I don't like working with regular Suspensions. Their ground clearance is very low and they rly lack options across the board. Imo they also look awful on large vehicles. The video suspension in the video is definitely klang-free so long as you set it up right. I worked with these things for hundreds of hours at this point and as far a s I can tell, they also work very well in multiplayer.
If you are able to get a script going, you can actually out-perform regular suspensions on large vehicles. I still haven't figured out how big you can actually go. It's mostly the sheer workload of getting it build, which holds me back atm. Carrier size is definitely doable.
Btw, I'm still monitoring the comment sections of my various creations. Even though I might not always be able to fix things right away, I'm always happy about notifications on issues. If I'm aware of problems I'll try to fix them evenetually. Thx in advance!
