[01.116] Easy 2 steps Player and ship teleport для Space Engineers
Do you like to travel very far but do not want to leave your station ?
Do you like to collect lost relic but have no where to store them ?
Or do you want to quickly help a friend who is KM away just for 5 minutes ?
Then this mode is exactly for you. It require only 2 beacons and 2 buttons/sensors at the most minimum and is quite easy to setup.
How to:
Player only teleport
- Place a beacon, name it "tp <link name>, then turn the beacon off
- Place a button or a sensor, set it action to trigger the beacon on
Now do the same setup at your desired location and you are done, pressing the button will teleport you between the two.
The <link name> is whatever word you want to use, it have to be the exact same name between two beacon to link them.
For example, your station have a beacon named "tp beta", so any other beacon with a similar setup named "tp beta" will be linked between each other.
Beacon name example: tp alpha sector
Player and ship teleport
- Place a beacon, name it "gate <link name>, then turn the beacon off
- Place a sensor, set it action to trigger the beacon on
Now do the same setup at your desired location and you are done, flying your ship on the sensor range will warp you to the other side.
You can have more than 2 teleporters using the same name for chain traveling, resulting in a circular network.
Trivia and know bugs:
- The teleporter will only work if two beacon share the same name and both are turned off. So when you build a new beacon please do not forget to turn it off.
- All players in a range of 7 meters of the beacon will be warped if you use "tp"
- All players and piloted ships in a range of 100 meters of the beacon will be warped if you use "gate"
- Attachment won't teleport and make thing explode, so do not use Rotor, Piston and anything docked with landing pads or connectors.
- a cool down of 5 seconds is enabled to prevent your ship to be teleported back right away if you use sensors
- There is no orientation corrects yet, ship will be ported relative to your position in world from the beacon rather than the beacon axis.
- The velocity is kept between teleport, so try not to engage the gate around 105 m/s if you have limited space on the other side
I have included sample screenshots to give you ideas on various fancy setup. You can use projectors for fancy field gates.
TODO:
- Add customization settings, such as range, cool down, etc...
- Create a model instead of using beacon with expensive materials to rebalance the game
